The Boccia Epsom and Ewell Club – support and commitment rules OK!

Liz Moulam, Founder and Chair

Yet another exciting presentation at

Disability Sport or Sport for Disabled People
A one-day conference focusing on how to increase
disabled people’s participation in sport and active recreation
16th May 2013,
English Institute for Sport, Sheffield

What began as a local club for 5 to 16 year olds with 4 members has over 8 years become a 40 strong squad of players, ranging from beginners through to international boccia athletes. The initial short weekly sessions developed into 4.5 hour club days twice a month, with additional holiday dates. Members now travel from across the South East. Volunteers raise funds for venue hire, equipment, training courses, kit, refreshments and anything else needed. The BEEs are a true team, club success has come from the amazing support and commitment of players, their families, personal assistants and volunteers. The presentation will share the highs, lows and stumbling blocks along this journey.

In 2012 they were presented with an EFDS Star Club Award.

Liz Moulam, Founder and Chair of Boccia Epsom and Ewell had over 20 years experience in sales, marketing and customer service before ‘retiring’ 14 years ago to become a full-time personal assistant for her daughter.
