Sport helping to delivering a healthier, smarter, more sustainable Wales

This is the opening presentation at the conferenceEnterprise and Collaboration – The way forward for community sport and physical activity in Wales

This is a one-day event focussing on how Welsh community sports providers can meet the challenges and benefit from new opportunities created by changes in people’s lives, the political landscape and the economic situation.

The conference is held on 26thJune 2014 at SWALEC Stadium, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

This presentation will be delivered by Sarah Powell, Chief Executive, Sport Wales

Sarah Powell will be talking about the sport sector’s shared vision to get every child “hooked on sport for life” which should be at the heart of delivering a healthier, smarter, more sustainable Wales.

To achieve this vision it is acknowledge that both Sport Wales and partners are going to have to work very differently.  There is a shared vision and goals, but we need to unite fully behind these, and encourage other sectors to join us if we are to make this vision a reality.  This is a significant challenge, but the rewards in achieving them will transform Welsh sport at all levels and have a lasting impact on the whole of Welsh society.

Sarah Powell is the first female Chief Executive Officer of Sport Wales, and is a self-proclaimed proud Welsh woman who has captained the national hockey team at all age levels.
