Golf Union Wales shows how a governing body can help their clubs to become more enterprising

This is one of the presentations at the conference Enterprise and Collaboration – The way forward for community sport and physical activity in Wales.

This is a one-day event focussing on how Welsh community sports providers can meet the challenges and benefit from new opportunities created by changes in people’s lives, the political landscape and the economic situation.

The conference is held on 26thJune 2014 at SWALEC Stadium, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

This presentation will be delivered by Zoe Thacker and Stuart Finlay, Development Officers, Golf Development Wales

 Golf Development Wales, the development arm of the Golf Union of Wales, will be presenting their innovative Business Support and mentoring Scheme (BSS) designed to support clubs in implementing change and to run more effectively as businesses.

The BSS has been delivered over the past 3 years as part of the Securing the Future strategy. It was developed to empower clubs to survive and eventually thrive within these challenging times due to changes in the golf business model. Within this presentation learn about the whole club approach to grow the game, collaboration, as well as, scheme challenges, evolution, successes and improvements. The presentation will also include some practical case studies showing the changes made by clubs, the impact it has had on the business and the increases in the number of people playing.
